I live in Bogotá, Colombia, but I grew up in San Cristobal Venezuela. In this project I have compiled a collection of memories and anecdotes from my childhood in San Cristobal. I’ve written the memories in plain text files and stored them in a server, where a python program is running. Every three minutes the script sends an ICMP packet, using the ping command, to a server running in my old house in San Cristobal. If the script gets a response, the files with the memories are kept intact, but if, on the other hand, no response packet is obtained, the program randomly deletes words from the memories, until they are completely empty. The process is displayed on a screen connected to the device that runs the server with the script and files.

Vivo en Bogotá, Colombia, pero crecí en San Cristóbal, Venezuela. En este proyecto he recopilado una colección de recuerdos y anécdotas de mi infancia en San Cristóbal. He escrito los recuerdos en archivos de texto plano y los he almacenado en un servidor, donde se ejecuta un programa python. Cada tres minutos el script envía un paquete ICMP, utilizando el comando ping, a un servidor que se ejecuta en mi antigua casa de San Cristóbal. Si el script obtiene respuesta, los archivos con las memorias se mantienen intactos, pero si, por el contrario, no se obtiene ningún paquete de respuesta, el programa va borrando palabras de las memorias aleatoriamente, hasta dejarlas completamente vacías. El proceso se visualiza en una pantalla conectada al dispositivo que ejecuta el servidor con el script y los archivos.
